Dragon Rulers are still good
You heard that. Dragon Rulers might be dead as a "pure" deck, but they aren't dead. Not at all.
Some of you might already know this, but at ARGCS Nashville 4 of the top 16 decks were... Hieratic Rulers. Sure, they didn't get to the top 4 or win the tournament (top 2 was Spellbook and Fire Fist) but the deck's popularity is on the rise, and I'm afraid that if they start consistently topping, we're going to have another Dragon format... a more annoying one, full of OTKs, yet more ways to stop the deck.
What do you think? Will more people start using the deck, and will it start topping a lot?

Definitely.
Human nature screams for retention. People would drastically prefer holding onto something they're familiar with rather than let it go for something or anything that could potentially be better. As long as there is a trace of Dragon Rulers left in the world of YGO, I'm fairly certain people will invent all sorts of creative ways to keep using them until their last essence has vanished completely.
Not even mentioning the fact that Hieratics by themselves are already pretty sick. >.>

I don't get it, are you saying Seven Star Sword should be banned, or that every lv 7 monster should be?

The deck was bad it sacked it's way to top 16. Â Got beat when it started to duel good players. Not including Brandon Ball of course. Â He is terrible xD. Â He topped because he just copies Dalton's play style . The deck lost all of it's top 16 matches, it only really topped as it was really well represented.

It's not really "bad". I mean it can stand up to most (if not all) decks, maybe 'cept Fire Fist due to the amount of **** they can side in to counter it.
The main reason the deck didn't go past top 16 is because siding annihilates it completely, and 99% of the time your only out will be a MST/Trap Stun + backrow removal/OTK.
Sure maybe Water, FF, SB and other relevant decks atm might be "better", but I don't think that's gonna be the case for long. We both know that someone will find a broken tech/combo to put into the deck and make it nearly tier 1 once again.
Do they have potential? Yes, definitely.

Of course every Level 7 monster should be banned, they're all way too broked. Red-Eyes Black Dragon has cost me many games to-date.

Anything that has seven stars, anything that can rank up to level seven, anything that can turn into seven stars. anything to make it so dracossack becomes basically a useless metal chicken

I think you're getting the concept wrong here: lv 7 monsters aren't Xyz, they're normal and effect monsters (including Synchro & Fusion). Xyzs have ranks not levels.KennyGee wrote:Anything that has seven stars, anything that can rank up to level seven, anything that can turn into seven stars. anything to make it so dracossack becomes basically a useless metal chicken

no i understand what ranks but perhaps i wasnt clear. What i am saying is that without any necessary way of summoning dracossack, his price will go down. Ban any card that has seven stars that can overlay to summon dracossack or ban cards that are like harpie channeller or gagaga magician who can in effect level up to level seven.

I understand that was a sarcastic comment, but it was totally unneeded.
Is there anything you'd like to contribute to the discussion with?

Once before the Dragon Rulers got hit for the first time I as well wanted them too get banned. I figured they were topping everywhere and all you ever heard about was em topping like crazy. I honestly never really cared for them until I noticed that they weren't just used in the ruler deck, but splashable in any of the matching attributed decks. Sure they allow extendable plays and field swarm but honestly who doesn't wanna finish their opponent fast and have a chance too relax and prepare for next around!? I don't see them going any further than limited 1 each!

Dragon Rulers were good, and still are good. I agree.
Just now, other decks get more then one turn when playing against them. Lol.
I like the Dragon Rulers, because the help benefit lots of decks.
Mermails
Hieratics
Gadgets
The list continues. But surly you get the point.
I don't think they will ever get banned. They will stay at limited for awhile. They aren't that broken anymore.

Like it or not, Dragunity is still a deck, even without Ravine, so Tempest is always big in it.

Re: Dragon Rulers are still good
To be honest, it's true D-Ruler are still very powerfull, even with the ban list. The thing is, now, they are less powerfull. The true question is ''Why they didn't ban them and instead ban Dragon Ravine?''.
D-Ruler are polyvalent in many decks that use basic attribute (I mean Fire,Water,Wind and Earth) and make them more dangerous. The fact that they are lvl 7 make them most usable to perform rank 7 xyz, which 2 of them are classified best Xyz Monsters. So why they didn't get ban?
1) Ravine made them more dangerous, and with the add of Dragon Shrine, it sounded logic that, to strongly slow down the dragons, to ban ravine and making Shrine the most used. But in the same time, it killed Dragunities.
2) For money, because the 4 d-rulers are still in sale in Tin Box, so ban them will do as no one will really buy these Tin Box. I predict, but that's my opinion, that they will ban them after 1 year.
But well, that's my opinion

I honestly believe that the dragon rulers yes are annoying too deal with, how ever awesome and can be splashed in many of your "top teir" decks. Just like my hieratic rulers for example I love using them just because of the ruler cards.
