You seem to pile on effects to make up for the lack of anything substantial in your smudges. I suggest using different brush sizes and strengths and then adding textures on lighten and lowering opacity or just autoblending. You tried something like it by adding c4d's/fractals underneath and smudging for the second gfx -- but overall, it was disrupting the flow and wasn't clean. Smaller would de better with that underlying layer.
